Tips for planting a mulberry for the first time


  • You need to plant a seedling in a constant growing place full of vital nutrients for the first two winters to keep it safe from the frost.
  • It‘s not good to plant a mulberry in wet places, if it gets too much water – it won‘t survive.
  • Most mulberries‘ sprouts are frostibitten after winter, it is not a problem. Don‘t forget to cut 1/2 all softwood sprouts in late summer.
  • Our climate zone doesn‘t negatively affect mulberries, there are no present tree diseases or parasites which attack mulberries, so it is not necessary to use any chemical substances for them.
  • It is recommended to fertilize mulberries during the third-fourth year after planting.
  • Berry size becoms optimal in the third to fourth year of ripening.
  • Mulberry species for material culture give their own qualities only by vegetative way.
